- Through consular cooperation, “the use of recycled yarn to practice ‘circular economy’ is in line with Zhenhuanying’s value-oriented consumption trend.”
SK Chemicals and Huvis collaborated for the first time in Korea to produce "chemically recycled polyester yarn."
SK Chemicals and Huvis announced on the 28th that they will combine their long-term accumulation of polyester manufacturing technology and yarn technology to launch high-quality chemically recycled polyester yarn "ECOEVER CR" in the third quarter of this year. To this end, SK Chemical plans to produce and supply chemically recycled PET (CR PET), and Huvis plans to use it to make "chemically recycled" yarn products.
As the world strives to reduce the environmental pollution caused by plastic, well-known overseas brands have also begun to pay attention to ecological trends, and the use of environmentally friendly products made from plastic and clothing waste is increasing. In recent years, environmentally friendly fiber business has become the main product of chemical fiber companies under ESG management policies.
"Chemical recycling" is a technology that breaks down waste plastics and clothing and returns them to pure raw materials to produce polymer plastics. "Chemically recycled" materials contain fewer small foreign matter than "physically recycled" materials, so there will be no thread breakage during the yarn production process, dyeing is uniform, and it has the advantage of producing higher quality yarns.
Huvis plans to receive chemically recycled PET (CR PET) from SK Chemicals and produce Korea's first chemically recycled polyester yarn "Ecoever CR". Huvis has built its own factory capable of producing waste PET bottle recycling fragments at its Jeonju factory, and produces recycled yarn "Ecoever" through a batch processing system from raw materials to yarn. After the launch of "EcoEver CR", the product lineup of various recycled yarns will be further expanded. Material supply chain required for yarn.
"The number of consumers who value environmentally friendly consumption is increasing," said Kim Bong-seop, head of Huvis' Yarn Division, adding, "Through this collaboration, we will not only expand the use of recycled yarn, but also create : "We will pursue sustainable development of society by further developing biodegradable yarns, practicing 'resource recycling economy'. "
SK Chemicals expands its copolyester petrochemical recycling portfolio. Following the chemically recycled copolyester "ECOTRIA CR", we plan to launch and supply chemically recycled PET (CR PET) "SKYPET CR". To this end, SK Chemical also obtained the exclusive rights to operate chemical recycled raw materials and chemical recycled PET (PET) related products in the Korean market through equity investment in a Chinese waste plastic (PET) recycling company in May last year.
Jeong Jae-jun, head of the new business development department of SK Chemicals, said: "With the recent increase in society's interest in discarded plastics, the environmental protection of materials is considered an important factor in consumers' purchasing decisions." The chemical fiber industry focuses on environmentally friendly fibers and Apparel market "With this as a starting point, we plan to accelerate the expansion of chemically recycled PET (CR PET) business."
